It has been a while since my last post here, so just to keep it alive! here is some of what I've been doing lately.
I like to keep my skills flowing and since most of the time I do digital artwork, coming back to traditional techniques is quite refreshing since the entire process is a bit different, different sets of tools, different challenges... Conceptually-wise I decided to retake a theme I had already worked with in digital, is a very similar color palette (which I love) and also the idea of top heavy cliffs, which could only exist in a fantasy world.
In this particular piece I wanted to try something I usually don't even think about, but which is so important in the finished product; the framing. Normally I would leave that up to whoever ends up with the painting to decide, but I've come across some really bizarre frame ideas that just totally change the entire concept, so I decided to paint it my self in this occasion, however its so time consuming to do, it's supposed to resemble a wooden frame, gold-leaf, barroque-ish. I was fascinated with the idea of experimenting with a mix of styles.
