Landscape Sky Painting

PAISAJISMO NUBES

After hours and hours of research, I found different and amazing styles of sky painting, which is probably one of my favorites things to paint, although I don't usually do it that much, or shall I say, I hadn't painted in quite some time. I usually can pull it off pretty good off the top of my head. Just try to put down a composition, colors, type of cloud, have some fun et voila!!

Although this time I wanted to try something completely different and hence the two paintings below. One I did it by totally looking at references and the other one not. Can you guess which one's which? any favorites?

Acrylic on Canvas - Environment

It has been a while since my last post here, so just to keep it alive! here is some of what I've been doing lately.

I like to keep my skills flowing and since most of the time I do digital artwork, coming back to traditional techniques is quite refreshing since the entire process is a bit different, different sets of tools, different challenges... Conceptually-wise I decided to retake a theme I had already worked with in digital, is a very similar color palette (which I love) and also the idea of top heavy cliffs, which could only exist in a fantasy world.

In this particular piece I wanted to try something I usually don't even think about, but which is so important in the finished product; the framing. Normally I would leave that up to whoever ends up with the painting to decide, but I've come across some really bizarre frame ideas that just totally change the entire concept, so I decided to paint it my self in this occasion, however its so time consuming to do, it's supposed to resemble a wooden frame, gold-leaf, barroque-ish. I was fascinated with the idea of experimenting with a mix of styles.

Sculpture Installation

This is a sculpture-installation I just completed and besides its abstract design, this piece is also a wind instrument.

Entitled "The Nautilus" is a nine-feet-tall piece built out of found objects such as a wine barrel, galvanized pipe and bamboo, which is part of the same exhibit we currently have on display.

The aim of this piece is to depict the relationship that starts with nature and connects with humans through creativity, culminating in a transcendental result. This concept is portrayed visually through the sculpture, substantially through the elements used, and ethereally through the overall interaction of the continuous cycle.
