Transcendence / Exhibit

This is just a little preview of a sculpture-installation show coming up in November 22nd. In which I will be featuring a new series of different sculptures that range between 6 to 9 feet tall. All created using natural matter, sustainable elements and recycled objects such as glass, metal, wood, stucco, etc... Some of the pieces are still in progress.

I will post more soon! As of now however, you can take a closer look at this piece in the Nikkei Museum in Fullerton at "IGNITE" The Art of Sustainability. An art collective by lead contemporary artists.

This particular piece was elaborated mainly using different kinds of wood, stucco and glass. The base is only a little section from a giant redwood, the stump was sculpted with stucco and painted with a wash technique using aqua-colored gray tonalities. The middle part includes bark from different trees like Chinese Zelkoba, various kinds of Eucaliptus, Azara and Cork Oak. The top piece was taken from and old barrel and the golden disc that goes in the center is blown glass.

For this project I collaborated with musician Derek Dobbs in order to make it a playable instrument with strings, similar to a harp which has been specially tuned for this work.

Here are a couple of pictures from the making of "The Guardian"
